Pride comes before a fall
As people climb the corporate ladder
some forget who they really are
get lost in their own self-importance
It is easy to forget that a designation
does not mean you are the best
or even that you are more intelligent
or do a better job and deliver better results
It frequently means that you were more ambitious
were prepared to sacrifice more
than your fellow who is happy to settle
for a lessor position while often doing the same job
for less money and less recognition.
It is always a good idea to remember
that pride comes before a fall
and what goes up can fall back down
with a thunderous thump that shakes the ground.
Good leaders should recognise in others
the qualities that make a good worker
conscientiousness, determination and adaptability
and remember that a designation does not make the person.
You do not evolve into another being
as a result of a promotion or designation
You are the same as you have always been
with your frailties and short-comings.
It is always a good idea to remember
that pride comes before a fall
and not giving recognition to those that support you
is the quickest way to make it happen.

Oh, spot-on Robbie! Perfectly said. I wish the people I work for and with could grasp that… I really have got to get far far away from here…
Wishing you a wonder-filled, hug-filled Wednesday, my friend.
