Darkness comes
She gazed into the dark depths of the water.
Why had he done it?
Christmas could be a time of great loneliness for people living alone. The good cheer and smiles of families around them resulting in deep despair.
She had received a call from a friend informing her of the death the previous evening. The body had been in the water for a few days making identification difficult.
Water was destructive.
She signed, recalling the message she had received from him a short while before.
Was it a cry for help? Maybe, but it was too late now.

Yay! I know that feels good. I still have over a week of “use or lose” leave. But since I’m trying to get a cottage and move… that’s so up in the air, that I am not sure how to schedule the leave yet.
Cheers.

Suicide is so sad. Christmas can be a very sad time for many.

Yes, I believe that is the case, Norah. I don’t really know anyone who spends it alone but I can imagine it is terribly hard.

A tragic end and yet so many do feel such despair at the holidays. The line about water’s destruction added depth to the scene, as well.

Thank you, Charli. This is based on a true story and I just couldn’t add further detail. It is too tragic.
